Little Sister

November 2007 (written 2001)

I wrote this song when I was recording with Stop the Takers in the early 00's. It was a real expression of uncertainty about some of the things that were going on around that time. I have to credit Corey Hines with the drum line and Mike Olson with the guitar line. Words and structure are mine.

Hey little sister, would you like to go
Out of your life with a carnival show
Travel all the way down to Mexico
Not a care in your head

You could leave it behind
Leave those places behind
And I'll see you sometime
You'll be up in the air
On top of your world
In control of yourself
But will I recognize you?

Hey little sister, where'd your boyfriend go?
He left with the caravan and now you're alone
He might call, but you ain't got no phone
What are you gonna do now?

You could leave it behind
Leave those people behind
And I'll see you sometime
You'll be up in the air
On top of your world
In control of yourself
But will I recognize you?

Hey little sister, the world is wide
Bet you wondered what was over on the other side
Of the town, maybe you could find a place to hide
Not in this lifetime

You could leave it behind
Leave those problems behind
And I'll see you sometime
You'll be up in the air
On top of your world
In control of yourself
But will I recognize you?
But will I recognize you?
